[white labeling] Custom domain
complete
Carl Robinson
ORIGINAL TITLE: Custom domain in invitation link
Currently the guest invitation links use the domain app.rumble.studio. To enhance the white-labelled offer, we could allow users to replace this with their own domain (CNAME). We could offer one CNAME per branding kit.
UPDATE BASED ON ONE APPSUMO COMMENT (12th August 22):
Use this domain for transactional email to improve white labeling feature
Joris GUERRY
[UPDATE 1st December 2022]
What we have now:
- [email] there is no more Rumble Studio logo,
- [email] no more mention of "Rumble studio" in the subject nor the email body,
- [email] it's your "Display name" used after "From" (editable in your profile page)
- [email] it's your account email used in case of a reply
- [interview] tab icon (favicon) is customizable
- [interview] tab title is customizable
What is missing for a "fully" white-label solution:
- [email] send transaction email from YOUR domain email (instead of contact@rumble.studio, and which can be different from your account email 😉 )
- [email] customizable text body => can't be totally customizable to avoid spammy behavior (it could be a customizable message within a predefined template though)
- [email] customizable subject => same problem (#spam), but we could let user let chose among a list of "subject templates"
- [interview] blinking tab title going from "Rumble Studio" to your customized title (very quick unless slow connection)
- [interview] open graph protocol (generated preview when sharing the link in Whatsapp, Discord, Linkedin, etc...)
- [UX] allow Page creation from Interview share tab
Let me be clear: from a technical point of view: sending an email from your domain will ask a lot of work. We need to implement DKIM/SPF protections, meaning new records in your DNS settings and we need to change our email provider (Mailjet only accepts up to 100 verified domains) => so this won't be done soon. We will need to verify custom domain email too. And the new email provider may have its own domain ownership verification (extra records...).
We look for the best solution :)
For other things (UX/interview/customizable values) it should not be a problem.
The roadmap on all of this is unclear right now as we are tackling the video support and podcast hosting but "everything is connected". 🚀

Joris GUERRY: I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your work, amazing company!

Joris GUERRY: Totally get the challeneges of implementing DKIM/SPF, etc, however, this is what marketers expect when you mention whitelable in places like AppSumo. It's what we're used to.
This is not a critisism as I know Rumble are in for the long haul, and keeps its promises, but this is what I was expecting when I invested in in the full stack.
As before, always here to help.
Rumble is a great product, love the team behind it, and can't wait for it to be fully whitelabled.
Keep up the good work guys :-)

Certainly a step in the right direction, but still not there yet as it is not fully whitelabled.
Basically, there cannot be any mention of Rumble for it to qualify as being whitelabled.
See my attached screenshots for more details and examples of placeholders I use in my booking system notifications.
Something like that gives me more control over the content of the email.
I'd also (if possible) like to be able to control the font type delivered in the email so that it's in line with my brand.

Hi people,
The "unbranded email" is live.
Here is a result for a guest "joris+test@rumble.studio" receiving the link to connect from an interview made by "joris@rumble.studio"
Next steps:
- [UX] allow Page creation from Interview share tab (in progress, being improved by the tech team)
- Open Graph Protocol (for link previews)

Joris GUERRY: Sorry but I'm not quite sure how this helps, it still shows rumble studio in the email. For me it says from DirectorsTalk Interviews <contact@rumble.studio>
Joris GUERRY
DirectorsTalk Interviews: Well, it's a question of glass half empty/half full ;)
It helps
already
because:- there is no more Rumble Studio logo,
- no more mention of "Rumble studio" in the subject nor the email body,
- it's your "Display name" used after "From" (editable in your profile page)
- it's your account email used in case of a reply
Now, I understand that it is not enough for some users. I'll make an update accordingly.
Best,
Joris

Joris GUERRY:As I mentioned above, it's certainly a step in the right direction for sure, and I'm is sure after receiving feedback you'll work on it. glass half full for sure, but needs a bit more work to make it a full glass :-) ... Keep up the great work, it's much appreciated.
Edit:
it's your "Display name" used after "From" (editable in your profile page)
Cool, I didn't know that.
it's your account email used in case of a reply.
Cool again, I'll change it and test again.it

Joris GUERRY: As a quick fix, is there a way of avoiding the emailing altogether (as an option), yes they enter there email still to assign the audio, but nothing sent.
In my case (and most others I would of thought) I will only send the link to people I want to interview.
If they enter there name or email address it really shouldn't need validating via email. If anyone else were to log in and record I would know the difference in voice and could just delete or ignore those recordings.
I think this would allow us to start using your platform with our clients.
Joris GUERRY
DirectorsTalk Interviews: let's not forget that we DO NOT send an email to new guests. First time an email is entered: it is just accepted and goes frictionless.
An email is sent ONLY when coming for a second time to keep access to existing answers from unidentified people.
What you are asking is like asking your guests to always use a different email.
If you don't care about the email verification, you can activate the anonymous mode and ask for text field to identify them on your own.
Feel free to upvote or open a new feature request on this matter.
D
DirectorsTalk Interviews
Thanks for that but at the moment, until it is fully white labeled the only option for us it to remove the email option altogether.
That said the closest option we have is to enable anonymous guests but that still does not remove the email or even hide it.
For anyone else wanting to remove the email option there is a request here than can be up-voted.

Joris GUERRY: any updates for this week? Thanks
Joris GUERRY
DirectorsTalk Interviews: Hi there, yes, give me 1h to push some news on this in production ;)

If you view the source code of a page using a custom domain it shows the meta tags, which includes:
<meta id="meta-site_name" content="Rumble Studio" property="og:site_name">
<meta id="meta-title" content="Rumble Studio" property="og:title">
Can the Rumble Studio name be removed please possibly changed to the username - my understanding of white labeling is just that, no longer branded .
Joris GUERRY
DirectorsTalk Interviews: Hi there,
of course, this is the Open Graph Protocol part of the feature.
It's ongoing :)
I
Info
Could you please provide screenshots how the white labelling is looking on different pages. Thanks.
Joris GUERRY
Info: here is an example,
It's mainly about the interview itself today, coming elements are a "podcast host page", "a drop some file page"...

Great to see this one marked as IN PROGRES again. Keep up the great work guys!

Merged in a post:
[white labeling] Unbranded / custom branded transactional emails
Carl Robinson
Currently the emails that are sent automatically from Rumble (e.g. notifications, password reset etc) have the Rumble branding on them.
Customers who need a whitelabeled solution would like this to remove this branding, and ideally add their own custom branding.
