ORIGINAL POST: "Background music"
Having a multi track editor will let users use classic audio patterns like:
- Ability to add a some music on the background of a recording or a mix.
- Crossfade from one file (music) to another (voice): useful for intro or transitions
- ...
How would you use it? ;)

One use case/application: I like the idea of background music under certain sections of an interview. For example, if the interview host wants to clarify something or expand on a point the guest made in the async interview, the background music makes it easier to understand that segment as being "different" from the normal interview.
This is used to great effect on podcasts such as "Your Undivided Attention" — https://overcast.fm/+Rs4tXa94k Play from 11:15 for this cybersecurity episode, where the host explands and explains something the guest had said about the "Stuxnet" hack. This is set to music, and that makes it clear that this was NOT part of the original interview...
